Minister and Dublin Rathdown TD, Josepha Madigan, has announced that the tender process has begun for a brand-new building for Stepaside Educate Together Secondary School.
The school, which is located on the Ballyogan Road, Leopardstown, will get a new, stand-alone, 1000 student school building with a 4-class SEN base beside the Leopardstown racecourse.
Minister Madigan welcomed the announcement, saying, “I am delighted to finally announce that the tendering process for the new Stepaside Educate Together Secondary School building has commenced.
“I have been in touch with school principal, Barbara Mulhall to inform her that the Department of Education is seeking expressions of interest for contractors for the new building, which will house 1,000 local students and a 4 class SEN base.
“This is really important progress for this project which the school community has been waiting on for many years. It will ensure that the school has the space and resources to continue to grow and develop over the coming years, for the benefit of the entire local community.
“It is important now that a contractor can be identified as soon as possible for the project so that construction can begin. The sooner the better for the whole school community.
“This is fantastic news for the local school community, students, staff, and parents. I am also delighted that the project will include an all-important SEN base, which recognises the importance of supporting the inclusion of students with additional needs as part of our education system. This is an area in which Stepaside Educate Together Secondary School has been exemplary.”
